From Tools to Relationships
Format: Two face-to-face sessions and Two Adobe Connect (Virtual) Sessions
The aim of this program is to develop team coaching skills, including communication and conflict management skills, emotional regulation, motivation, inspiration, active listening, humble inquiry and relational coordination in health care improvement efforts.
This five-month program follows an action learning model of didactic, demonstration, practice, and feedback to support individual learning and practice.
Anyone coaching interprofessional improvement teams would benefit from the additional knowledge, and communication and conflict management skills in a rapidly changing health care environment.
Two face-to-face sessions and two (online) Adobe Connect sessions.
Spring Series: February - June 2014
The program will start in February 2014 with advance reading, videos, a reflective exercise and self assessment surveys. Each registrant will be assigned to an expert faculty member for individualized coaching and support.

Expert faculty and leading thinkers from around the world will guide and support this series. Each participant/organization will be assigned to faculty for personalized support and guidance.
Nan Cochran is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Dartmouth Medical School and the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, and practices as an internist and geriatrician at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction, Vermont. After undergraduate work at Harvard, she received her MD at Harvard Medical School, and completed residency training in Primary Care Internal Medicine at the University of Washington. She is a member of the Master Teachers Academy and has directed the Introduction to Clinical Skills course at The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth for over twenty years. As a faculty member and president-elect of the American Academy on Communication in Healthcare, she does faculty development and consulting in the areas of team building, negotiation and conflict resolution, motivational interviewing and shared decision making.
Marjorie M. Godfrey
Margie is the Co-Director of The Dartmouth Institute Microsystem Academy. An international leader of health care improvement she has an interest in Team Coaching of interprofessional improvement teams in health care. Developer and director of the world re-known "eCoach-The-Coach" program, she is pleased to help facilitate the development and teaching of From Tools to Relationships.
Maysel Kemp White
Dr. White is the President & CEO of Healthcare Quality and Communication Improvement, LLC. Since 1991 Maysel has held a variety of influential positions in the healthcare consulting industry including: an advisor to administrators of hospitals, HMO's, group practices, Patient Centered Medical Homes, Malpractice Insurance Companies, Physician Health Programs; and, consultant to individual physicians supporting their efforts to improve patient outcomes, decrease malpractice risk, improve the patient/ families’ experience of care, and improve overall organizational performance.
Includes: All course materials, Adobe Connect access, Individual coaching by faculty from the American Academy on Communication in Healthcare (AACH)
